2010-04 Moving On Celebration for Willow Wind Students 033

My new friend, writer Katherine Ozment sent me a link about the power of stories in the development and resiliency of children and youth. Check out the New York Times article on “The Stories that Bind Us” and the new research on the power of stories in families.

The Hearth is busy creating new program for families and children. This April we will have a weekend retreat for families (as well as others) with morning workshops, evening stories around the fire, silence and wisdom stories, hiking, games, and other activities. The planning is still in the works but the date and location are set for April 11-13, 2014 at the Oregon Extension in Lincoln, Oregon (20 minutes north of Ashland). Save the date.

This fall we will lead a four part series for families with children on “Origin Stories.” We’ll help families uncover, explore, and learn how to tell the the primary stories of their family (overcoming suffering, adventure tales, stories of origin, etc.). That program will begin in mid-October.

In the next few days we hope to post all the events through June.
